Summer!

I'm not even going to pretend this is an attempt to get back into regular blogging. Well just call it a surprise posting :)

Summer has made it's way to our house. We kick it off with an excellent camping trip with Gma and Gpa at Doheney Beach. The 4 of us headed down on Sat morning via the Ortega Highway. It's so much fun to be able to enjoy car rides with the kids. The whole way down there we were talking about animals and forests and what we were going to do at the beach. The kids loved being able to see so much of the city out their windows while we were going up the mountain.

When we got to Dana Point we met Uncle Seann, Gma & Gpa at the local farmer's market. Did some sampling, got some yummy fresh produce to have for dinner then we all headed to the campsite. As soon as the kids got out of the car they went straight for the sand and pretty much spent 80% of their weekend there.   Uncle Seann was only a few steps behind them and within minutes he had everyone down by the water. Where we spent the rest of the afternoon either building sandcastles, burying Seann (I particularly enjoyed that one) and getting our feet wet. It was a bit too cold and J was recovering from a cold so we weren't able to do too much in the water but they still managed to get pretty wet.

We also took a walk and did some napping and reading. Taught Wyck how to play tag. Grilled up some hamburgers and corn for dinner. And of course smores for dessert :)

Seann left that night but the rest of stayed, kids were asleep pretty fast after showers and some reading. Sunday morning we woke up to nice and easy breakfast of pan dulce and fresh fruit. Then Gma&Gpa had an appt so while Daddy napped the kids and I went for a walk along the beach. We did almost 2 miles and the only thing that made them want to go back was they were ready for lunch. Then it was back to the beach for more digging and exploring. A quick dinner and a shower for the kids and we headed home around 7. It was hard to believe we were only there for 2 days but we sure made the most of it.

Monday we were all off of work so spent the day lounging around, playing in the kiddie pool, flying kites and blowing bubbles.

A very excellent way to start our summer.
