Summer Part 3-Swim Lessons

This summer also included swim lessons. Isabel had taken a parent-n-me class before Joaquin was born. Joaquin had never actually been in a pool before. I know, shocking huh? It just never came up.  I enrolled him in the parent-n-me class and Isabel was in level 1. It was really nice having both classes at the exact same time so I could be in the pool with Joaquin on one end and still keep an eye on Isabel at the other end.
In the beginning both kids were kind of nervous. Neither wanted to put their face in the water. Joaquin was having fun playing at first but after the first 15-20min he was done and wanted out and declared as we were leaving that he never wanted to get in the pool again.  We had to skip the next day cause I was too sick to go but I think that ended up being a good thing, cause the next day Joaquin had forgotten about his declaration and was excited to go back. Each day the kids got more brave. By the 4th day Joaquin had some breakthrough and all sudden just started going underwater by himself. Even the teacher was amazed how he just flipped a switch. After that it was all over.
The next week Moe was off from work so he was able to get in with Joaquin and we were just more and more amazed by how much progress they made. By the end of the 9 classes, Joaquin could touch the bottom of the pool with his feet and hands and able to push himself back up. He is also able to swim under water a couple feet. And stayed under water for a good 10-15 seconds. Isabel went from being petrified of having even a couple drops on her face to voluntarily  putting her whole face under and diving for toys on the bottom.  She is also able to push herself off from the wall and glide for a few seconds. And she almost has her backstroke down. Both kids received the all clear to move to the next level. And while we weren't originally planing on doing more than one session we decided to go ahead and try to get them in since they loved it so much.
We didn't take too many pics but here are a few
