Sad News

This past Saturday we had to say good bye to Boomer. As most of you know he had a lot of problems and was pretty old. And we finally decided this would be best for everyone.

We've been talking about for awhile but always found a reason to postpone it. But this week he lost control of his bodily functions and a lot more pain, so we knew it was time.

For those that don't know Boomer found us Easter 2005. Moe and I were living in our Menifee apartment and had come home after spending Easter at Gma's & Gpa's. As we got out of our car we saw this little flash of black out of the corner of our eyes. And we saw Boomer coming running towards us. He was so friendly and so much personality. We fashioned up a leash and spent about 3 hours going around the neighborhood asking if anyone had lost a dog. Nobody had so we took him home and posted flyers.

We knew he had to belong to someone since he had a collar just no license and when we brought him inside he was housetrained. It was the cutest thing he would go to the sliding glass door and lift up one paw.

After a couple days we had fallen for him but knew we had to try and find his owner so we took him to the animal shelter. Right after we dropped him off we missed him so we called back and put a reserve on him. Everyday we checked to see if someone had picked him up. When the wait time was getting nearer we got more excited and started to think of names. If you know my family, you know our dogs names have to mean something to us.

Once we thought of Boomer we knew it was perfect. It was sort for Boomerang. You know we had to let him go before he could come back to us.

When the day came that we could pick him up we both took the day off work and went to get him. It was so exciting. From that moment on he was a part of our family.

We took him for his first checkup and discovered he was pretty old and had a pretty rough life, right off the back he needed a couple teeth extracted and his ears drained and who knows what else, but we were hooked. Since then he's paid a many visits to the vet after the last time we got the news that they could try and fix what was wrong or even try and figure out what was wrong, but no guarantee that they could fix it and about a 50/50 chance he would even come out of the anesthesia. That's when we decided to just wait it out.

He was only with us for 4 1/2 years but he got into our hearts the second we saw him.

I am so sorry, it is so hard to lose a pet, they really become part of the family.
Hope Isabel is taking it well.
